New Winter Weather Pattern for NYC? (Speculation)
I've sensed a pattern in these past few years. We seem to have started shipping most of our Arctic winter air to Europe.
The winter weather pattern for the east coast of the US seems to follow this so far.
1. A one to five day period of 'normal' December/January winter (that is, one week of winter, possibly some blizzards) in late October or November
2. Lots of mini springtime-type events of weather at least 15 degrees above average from December until February. These events last between one and five days, and typically include precipitation.
3. Almost no days far below average temperature December - February.
4. Some days of near-average temperatures, with no precipitation.
Basically, snow is leaving us, except for one or two large blizzards that we still might get. Snow as a regular, daily occurrence is gone, replaced with either dry, average cold days or wet, very warm ones.
Any thoughts? Agreements? Disagree?
